THE SAI BABA CONNECTION (True story of Sudhamek)
Hanging on the wall of Sudhamek’s
office is a picture of the late Indian spiritual guru Sri Sathya Sai Baba, whom
Sudhamek considers his savior. In 1990, he suffered from a disease that a
doctor in Singapore said could be fatal. Due to his sickness Sudhamek decided
to quit working. After various treatments failed to help him, including acupuncture
in china, Sudhamek heard about Sai Ba Ba in india. Having nothing to lose, he
went to see him.
Staying with Sai Ba Ba for
several months in southern india, he received counseling herbal treatments, and
was eventually cured. With a new lease on life, Sudhamek decided to join the
family business and felt that his life has been extended in order to help
others.
“If not for the illness I would
probably have remained as a professional working in other people’s companies,”
he says. In May 2010, Sai Ba Ba asked Sudhamek to discuss his spiritual experience
in front of 10,000 people attending the celebration of the vesakha (buddha’s
birthday) in Puttaparthi in india. “I was praying that if my experience was
worth sharing then I would share it and my prayers were answered. It meant much
to me,” Sudhamek says, noting that it was the last vesakha attended by Sai Ba
Ba, who died about a year later.
